We're getting PUMPED for Free Comic Book Day 2018, now just a little over two weeks away! We keep uncovering more and more books to add to the stock for $1 comics (or 20 for $10) and $5 trade paperbacks (or 5 for $20), we had to make more room for our latest Funko shipment, which means more $8 Pops (or 4 for $25) for the fire, and then there's even more overstock figures for our deep discounts!

Today marks our official one year anniversary! In that time, we've been open 363 out of 365 days, we opened late, closed early, and left the shop in Bret's hand a full day once each. I'd like to take more time to pontificate some more stats, but we've got 12,000 Free Comic Book Day books waiting at the back door to be counted and stamped, plus you'd probably rather hear about...

Hopefully I'll see everyone out at Twin City Comic Con this Sunday, April 8th from 10 AM - 5 PM at the Millennium Center in downtown Winston-Salem, especially since in addition to being the best show this side of I-40, Sunday will be exactly a year since our debut preview night at the Greensboro store!

Late posting this week because of a ton of rearranging in the back of the store that's going to free up space for some VERY exciting new additions, hopefully in time for Free Comic Book Day, and then Jay and I went to see Ready Player One with our friend Brian after hours.

It's been a wild week to celebrate one year of weekly new book, what with NC Comicon - Oak City rivaling HeroesCon for our most successful show (highlighted by saying goodbye to our first appearance of Thor and first Captain America in the Silver Age), in the span of two days we purchased and sold not one but two copies of the first appearance of Thanos (plus three Marvel Legends Infinity Gauntlets), and yesterday was our third highest Wednesday (so thanks to everyone that came by for that)!

This weekend I'll be taking the lead as we set up at NC Comicon - Oak City this Saturday and Sunday at the Raleigh Convention Center! Last year's Oak City was kind of me and Jay's public coming out party as part of Ssalefish after our previous work experience, and it was not without it's added stresses and trials, but this year I'm ready to get back to the basics, namely the best hamburger, fries, and shake I've ever had at Chuck's!

I've already gotten several compliments on my new 'do since I came in this afternoon, so I thought I would give credit where credit is due to Mr. Casey at the Winston-Salem Barber School in the next shopping center up the street! They've been shearing me and Jay since we moved in here just about a year ago, and at just $6 for a cut you can't beat it!

I'm super psyched with the way this signed for our Pop section turned out. Sir Speedy did an awesome job on the printing and cutting and, to toot my own horn because Jay and Bret couldn't tell the difference, I had a blast polishing up my Adobe Illustrator skills to recreate the Funko logo rather than just stealing one off the internet and trying to make it work.

Not too much to report on the home front this week, what with Jay & Bret doing the real work at the Image Expo and ComicsPRO Annual Meeting in Portland, but I can say that the Hot Toys Spider-man Homecoming figure is already spoken for and our latest copy of Batman Adventures #12 was snatched up last night.

On the other side of the coin, we've got some new vintage Kenner Star Wars vehicles and playsets in the case next to the Pop Wall, so come by and check us out over the weekend!
